Have a simple event that needs a simple set up? Then an Express Registration event can be your answer, providing invitees with one quick page of registration. Yup, it's that quick! Just follow the steps below to set up your one-click event.

Creating an Event

1 Select your event type. Begin by clicking Create Event. Once the Event Creation Wizard opens, select Express Registration.

2 Specify key event details. Name your event, then select a category.

In the When section, set the time zone to match the venue's. Select the dates and times. The Registration Deadline is the last day invitees will be able to register.

NOTE: Your event will close automatically when it reaches capacity or the Registration Deadline passes.

In the Event Planner section, enter the planner's first and last name. This will appear by default in the From Name field of event emails by way of data tags.

Click Finish.

NOTE: You can change anything you've created during the wizard later. This is just the start.
Customizing Your Event

1 Update the event details, if necessary. Begin by selecting your Express event. The Overview tab opens by default. Click the neighboring tab, Event Details, then Edit.

This is where you can edit everything you set up when creating your event, such as when and where the event will take place, who the planner is, if your event is public or private, and any custom event fields.

To change the date format, such as May 5, 2017 to 5 May 2017, use the Date Format dropdown.

Click Save when you're finished.

2 Customize your website and registration. Click the neighboring tab, Website & Registration. Click Customize next to the page you want to create.

When adding a background image, click Edit Section in the top right corner of the section you want to customize. Use the Background Options to determine how the image will be positioned, then establish the image's width and height compared to the section's size. Depending on which option you select, the image will take up that percentage of the section, such as an image with a 50% width and height will take up half of the section. Then determine how the background will repeat.

When adding a background image, we suggest starting out with a 1200 x 700px image. But don't just take our word for it!

Also be aware that any text included in the image may become distorted as the screen size changes, so it's safer to add the text separate from the image.

3 Customize your domain, if necessary. Already have a domain associated to your account? Click the neighboring tab, Promotion & Communication, then Change Domain.

Choose your custom address from the Website Domain dropdown. Enter the name you want to add to your URL in the Trailing Event Name. You can use up to 50 letters and numbers, but no spaces or special characters.

Click Confirm. The new URL will replace the old weblink.

4 Tailor your emails. If you didn't add a custom domain, click the neighboring tab, Promotion & Communication.

Select an email. The Details tab opens by default. Click the neighboring tab, Content, then Edit.

5 Create web widgets. Click Close, then Create Web Widget.

Select a widget type from the dropdown. Your options include:

  • Event Promotion - Stir up excitement with a countdown. You can include event fields, such as the name, dates, and location.

  • Register Button - Design a button, clean and simple, to take whoever clicks it straight to registration. You can customize the colors, text, font, and choose sharp or rounded corners.

Continue creating your widget. Since express registration events do not have agenda items and fees, this field cannot be added to the widget.

6 Hide the event from search engines.  Choose to make your event public during the Event Creation Wizard, and, once it's active, it will automatically display in search engines. You can ensure that doesn't happen by clicking the tab to the right, Advanced, then Edit. In the Search Engine Settings section, ensure "This event can appear in search engine results (e.g., Google, Bing, Yahoo!)" is switched to No.

7 Add a custom badge from the badge library. Scroll down to the Custom Badge section and switch "Use a badge for this event" to Yes. Click the ellipsis to the right of the Badge field. From the dropdown, select Name Badges.

Select the badge you want associated to your account, then click Save.

NOTE: To print a badge, click the Invitee Management tab, then Bulk Actions. Badges cannot be printed from an email or webpage.

8 Add a Planning Status, if necessary. If you're using meeting request forms or notifications, you can add a planning status to your event by hovering over Actions, and clicking Edit Planning Status. Choose a status from the dropdown, then click Save.

To see when the status was last changed and by whom, scroll down to the Planning Status section and click View History...

NOTE: To test your event, click Perform Test on the Overview tab. Once you're happy with how it looks, either click the Launch Event button on the Overview tab, or the Launch button located at the bottom of the other tabs.
