As you get ready to support your CrowdCompass app during your event, follow the steps below to ensure your attendees have a successful onsite experience.

1 Create info icons. To give attendees an in-app resource for all the information they'll need, create an Onsite FAQ icon to highlight common attendee questions and an Event Info icon to educate them on how to use features in the app.

2 Use a naming convention. If possible, keep the names of your Wi-Fi network, event password, and event hashtag consistent to help attendees adopt the technology.

3 Share download instructions. You can provide app download instructions in various ways, including a handout, demo video, or pop-up display. We also recommend adding an app download slide to all session presentations, and giving an overview of the app in your opening session.

You can find app download instruction templates in the Marketing section of the EventCenter, plus shareable videos and a handout in our Teaching Attendees article. Make sure to include your Online Event Guide URL in case attendees would like to log on via their laptop or do not have an iOS or Android device.


4 Establish a dedicated app help desk. Assigning staff dedicated to just the app will help with the flow of traffic when attendees have CrowdCompass-specific questions. 

5 Train your staff. Even if you won't have a dedicated app help desk, train all your registration staff on how to download the app, log in, and perform common troubleshooting. Be sure to review the steps for downloading the app from both the Google Play and App Store. If an attendee is using a non-Android or iOS device, guide them to using the Online Event Guide instead. Your staff should also be able to assist attendees with common features, including how to edit their profile and navigate the schedule.

6 Understand app compatibility. When you're troubleshooting, help attendees make sure their browser or mobile device is compatible with CrowdCompass.

7 Provide Wi-Fi options. Though the app can be downloaded using mobile data, we recommend having Wi-Fi available for your attendees. If you're not providing Wi-Fi throughout the venue, encourage attendees to download the app before they get onsite, provide a hot spot for a portion of the event, or direct attendees to use an open local network.
