A web widget is a tiny program you can embed in another website, such as your organization's, affiliate's, or sponsor's, attracting their visitors to your event. Display a countdown to the big day, show the number of spots remaining, tempt early birds with a discount code, and make it all easy with a big Register Now button. The widget is linked to your event so whenever a registrant signs up or a date changes, it updates automatically.

NOTE: If creating a Flex event, this feature is not yet available. For an Express event, reference this article instead.

1 Access the Widget Details page. Begin by selecting your event. Hover over Promotion & Communication and, under Web, click Web Widgets.

Click Create Web Widget.

2 Choose a widget type. Select a widget type from the dropdown. Your options include:

  • Event Promotion - Stir up excitement with a countdown and ticker totaling the spots left. You can include event fields, such as the name, dates, and location, or list admission items, optional items, session names, and fees.

  • Register Button - Design a button, clean and simple, to take whoever clicks it straight to registration. You can customize the colors, text, font, and choose sharp or rounded corners.

  • Registration - Give the registration button context by including pertinent event information, then let visitors fill out their name, email, and registration type right on the page.

  • Fundraising - Track the revenue collected from registrations, optional items, or donations and show visitors how close you are to the goal, motivating them to close the gap.

Name the widget for your reference. Consider adding a reference ID to track where registrants are coming from.

3 Configure the widget's content. Scroll down and click the Content header to expand the options.

You can add custom information, such as sponsor logos or your organization's website in the header and footer fields. Click HTML...  below the field to add images, insert hyperlinks, and format the text. Click OK to return to the widget designer.

NOTE: When adding an image to use as a header, ensure it matches the width listed in Display Options.

Click Add Field... to pull in details about your event. When the pop-up opens, click Select beside the fields you want to include, then click Close.

NOTE: Don't see the event field you need? Add a custom one.

If you're creating an Event Promotion widget, click Add Agenda Item... to display items and their fees. This button also appears for the Fundraising widget but rather than display the product names, the widget calculates the revenue from the products you select.

If you don't want the button in your widget to say "Register for the Event," change it in the Button Text box.

4 Design its look and feel. Scroll down and click the Display Options header to expand the options.

Play around with your widget's size, shape, font, and colors.
Once you're satisfied, click Save.

5 Embed the widget on an external website. A Code box appears below your widget. Copy the code and paste it where you want the widget to appear in the website's code.

Or embed the widget as a custom data tag. You can also embed your widget in any page on your registration website with an HTML editor by creating a content block custom data tag and adding your web widget code in the HTML box.

You can then add the data tag to any page with an HTML editor.

NOTE: Only publish your widget after your event has been launched as it may interfere with testing.
