Follow the steps below to use the contact type field in the Address Book to assign a registration type, sparing your invitees the trouble of making that choice on their own. This works best when multiple events aren't occurring at the same time, or when using more than event emails to get the word out.

1 Assign contact types to your invitees. In order to pre-assign an invitee a registration type, they must first be assigned a contact type within the Address Book.

2 Associate registration types to your event, paths, and items. To customize which path your invitees will go down, and which items they will see, you'll first need to add registration types to your event, associating them to the proper registration paths and agenda items in the process.

3 Ensure invitees cannot select their own registration type in Classic. Hover over Website & Registration and, under Registration, click Registration Settings. Select a registration path, if necessary.

The Basic Settings tab opens by default. Click the neighboring tab, Identification & Security, then Edit.

Scroll down to the Registration Type Selection section, and ensure No is selected next to "Invitees can select their registration type."

Click Save.

Or, ensure invitees cannot select their own registration type in Flex. Hover over Website & Registration and, under Registration, click Registration Process. Then, click Open Site Designer.

If the registration type widget is added to your canvas, delete it by hovering over ... in the top-left of the Registration Type widget, then clicking Delete.

Click Save to save your changes and continue working or Publish to make it available to invitees.

NOTE: You'll still need to associate registration types to paths by clicking the Registration Page dropdown in the top left, then the gear icon next to the path. Use the dropdown to select which types should be associated to this path.
