Holding a lot of events at the same time and don't want invitees selecting their own registration types? Turn your invitation lists into digital ushers, ensuring the right people go down the right path. Upon clicking a data tag, invitees will be assigned a registration type for that specific event. This will not replace their contact type in your Address Book.

1 Associate registration types to your event, paths, and items. To customize which path your invitees will go down, and which items they will see, you'll first need to add registration types to your event, associating them to the proper registration paths and agenda items in the process.

2 Ensure invitees cannot select their own registration type in Classic. Hover over Website & Registration and, under Registration, click Registration Settings. Select a registration path, if necessary.

The Basic Settings tab opens by default. Click the neighboring tab, Identification & Security, then Edit.

Scroll down to the Registration Type Selection section, and ensure No is selected next to "Invitees can select their registration type."

Click Save.

Or, ensure invitees cannot select their own registration type in Flex. Hover over Website & Registration and, under Registration, click Registration Process. Then, click Open Site Designer.

If the registration type widget is added to your canvas, delete it. Hover over ... in the top-left of the Registration Type widget, then click Delete.

Click Save to save your changes and continue working or Publish to make it available to invitees.

NOTE: Make sure you've associated registration types to your registration paths, if applicable, under the Registration Page navigation dropdown > Click the gear icon next to the registration path > Select which registration types are associated to this path.

3 Create multiple invitation lists. Each registration type you plan on using will need its own invitation list.

Hover over Promotion & Communication and, under Email, click Invitation Lists. Click Create Invitation List, then scroll down to the Advanced Settings section. Switch "Assign a registration type to list members who register" to Yes. Click the ellipsis (...) that appears below, and select the registration type.

Finish creating the invitation list.

4 Add invitees to the invitation list. Add invitees to the list.

NOTE: If your event is public, invitees not on an invitation list will get the default registration type, unless they have a contact type assigned to them in the Address Book that's associated as a registration type in the event.

5 Customize and send the invitation email. If you'll be sending the invitation email through Cvent to allow invitees to register, customize a personalized Classic or Flex event invitation email and ensure the {[E-RSVP YES]} link or URL data tag is inserted.

Once you're done creating the invitation, schedule to send it. Repeat this process for each invitation list.

Or, send a weblink to invitees. If you'll be emailing an invitation outside of Cvent, access your event's weblinks and choose the one you want to send to invitees. As long as the invitee's email address is added to the invitation list, they'll automatically receive the registration type that's associated to it.
