Don't overhire for check-in. Let your tablet handle that line by turning it into a self-service station. Using Kiosk Mode in OnArrival, your attendees can check themselves and their guests in as well as register, sign their name, submit a payment, and print badges. Follow the steps below to set it up.

NOTE: Kiosk Mode does not work on phones or iPods and is only available with a Premium license. Follow these steps to configure Kiosk Mode on a laptop or desktop. Some features are not yet available in Kiosk Mode on Android tablets.

1 Enable OnArrival Premium for your event, if necessary. Depending on the terms of your contract, you may need to enable OnArrival Premium for your event before you can use it.

Begin by selecting your Classic or Flex event. Hover over Event Details and, under General, click Event Configuration. Click Edit and, in the Onsite section, check the box next to OnArrival Premium, then click Confirm. When you're done, click Save.

2 Disable any unnecessary settings in OnArrival.
Open the OnArrival app on your device, then select your event. Tap the menu icon in the top-left corner, then tap Settings. Tap Kiosk Settings. Any changes made here will only impact the individual device you're working on.

Or, disable any unnecessary settings in Cvent. Log into your Cvent account and select your event. Hover over Website & Registration and, under Onsite, click OnArrival, then Edit. Any changes made here will impact all devices used onsite at your event.

You'll see a number of options, including:
  • Search Method - Determine if you want to allow attendees to search for their names, scan a barcode, or both.
    • Search Fields - Allows you to select which fields attendees can search by during check-in.
    • Secure Search (Advanced) - Requires an attendee to search for an exact match based on the Attendee Search fields you have configured.
    • Search Results Display Field - Allows you to select one field to appear in the attendee search results.
NOTE: Because the Secure Search feature does not auto-fill attendees' names (that would reveal personal data and violate GDPR), we recommend enabling it.
  • Preview Badge - Allows attendees to preview their badges before printing.
  • Guest Check-In - Allows attendees to also check in their guests.
  • Badge Reprints - Allows attendees to reprint their badge.
  • Allow New Registrations -  Allows walk-ins to register. Tap Registration Types to specify which registration types you want attendees to be able to register for onsite. Tap Attendee Information and drag and drop any the fields you want attendees to fill out to Required or Optional. If you have registration questions or custom contact fields you want to appear, go to Website & Registration > OnArrival > Attendee Questions in Event and add them there.
  • Custom Background Image - Allows you to update the default image attendees see in Kiosk Mode. Dimensions should be 2048 x 1536. Reference this article for tips on optimizing your background image to use in Kiosk Mode.

Tap the arrow in the top left to return to the main settings page.

3 Turn it on. Tap Kiosk Mode on the lower-middle of the screen.

4 Choose a configuration. Choose between:
  • Normal - After checking in or registering, attendees can print their badge. You can also collect payments or signatures.
  • QuickScan -  Attendees check in by simply scanning their badge or selecting their name from a list. But they cannot print badges, submit a payment, or sign.

Then tap Launch Kiosk. Your device will now be locked into Kiosk Mode, and you'll need to enter an Admin password to unlock the device.
