Your phone has a unique number. Your car does too. Chances are your respondents are no exception. If everyone responding may not have an email address or already has a unique identifier tracked by your organization (e.g. their employee number), consider using source ID.

In Surveys (Classic)

1 Add a Source ID to a contact. When responding to a survey with a Source ID, every respondent must have one associated to their contact record. Begin by clicking Contacts in the top right.

Search for the contact, then click their name. Click Edit.

Enter a unique source ID.

NOTE: A source ID can contain up to 40 numbers and letters, and is not case sensitive.

Click Save.

Or add Source IDs in bulk. Begin by clicking Contacts in the top right. Check the contacts you want to edit. Hover over Actions and click Export. Move Source ID from the Available box to the Selected box.

Click Export.

Give everyone a unique source ID, then import the contacts back into Cvent.

2 Make the survey private. When respondents respond with a source ID, they must be on the targeted list. Under Solutions at the top of the page, select Surveys. Then open your survey by clicking its name. Click Settings in the navigation bar. Under Section Links on the left, click Survey Security, then Edit.

Switch "Who can answer the survey" to Only individuals on a targeted list.

Click Save.

3 Enable source ID. Click Design Survey in the navigation bar. Under Section Links on the left, click Identity Confirmation, then Edit.

Scroll down to the Identity Confirmation Fields section, and select Required from the Source ID dropdown. Determine if it must be entered twice.

NOTE: Keep in mind that if the Email Address field is hidden or if respondents do not fill it out, they will not receive any Cvent emails.

Click Save.

4 Add the source ID data tag to the email invitation, if necessary. Respondents may not remember their source ID from survey to survey. Remind them by adding their unique source ID to the invitation email.

Click Emails in the navigation bar, and if necessary, select a targeted list. Click Invitation.

The Email Settings tab opens by default. Click the neighboring tab, HTML Email, then Edit.
Copy and paste {[C-CONTACT SOURCE ID]} into the email, then click Save.

In Surveys (New)

1 Add a Source ID to a contact. When responding to a survey with a Source ID, every respondent must have one associated to their contact record. Begin by clicking Contacts in the top right.
