NOTE: Trying to change what the error message says? You can do so by customizing event-wide text.

NOTE: These instructions are for the New Experience. To follow these steps, click Try Now at the top of your account to enable a partial preview, then talk to your Account Team to make the complete switch.

Make your event public

1 Select your event.
2 From the left-hand navigation, click Registration, then Registration Process.
3 If applicable, select a registration path.
4 Click Open Site Designer.
5 Click the Registration Page dropdown in the top-left of the canvas.
6 Click the User-added image icon to the right of the registration path.
7 Scroll down to the Privacy Settings section and set "Who can register for the event?" to Open to the public.

Check the invitee's contact record
Accounts with a setting called "Contact Match Key" enabled require that invitees enter their name and email exactly as they appear on the invitation list.

1 Select your event.
2 From the left-hand navigation, click Attendees, then Attendee List.
3 Find the invitee.
4 Have them try again, matching their name and email exactly to what's in your invitation list.

Increase your registration type capacities

1 Select your event.
2 From the left-hand navigation, click General, then Registration Types.
3 Select a registration type.
4 Click Edit.
5 In the Basic Settings section, increase the number in the Capacity field.

3 Find the invitee and click their name.
4 Hover over Actions. If "Go to Contact" is greyed out, click Close and follow the remaining steps. If not, try another solution.

Ensure the custom fields match when using a custom process
If you're assigning registration types using a custom process, the custom field answers in the event must match the custom field answers in Admin. Also, if an invitee does not fit the custom process criteria, they will also receive this error message.

1 Select your event.
2
From the left-hand navigation, click Registration, then Registration Process.
3 If applicable, select a registration path.
4 Click Open Site Designer.
5
Click the Registration Page dropdown in the top-left of the canvas.
6 Click the User-added image icon to the right of the registration path.

7 Scroll down to the Advanced Settings section, and review which custom fields are associated to the custom process and their answers.
8 In a new tab, click the User-added image icon in the top-right, then Admin from the dropdown.
9 Review your custom contact field answer choices to ensure they match the responses within your event.

Check registration prerequisites
If you're requiring invitees to attend previous events, they will receive this error message.

1 Select your event.
2
From the left-hand navigation, click General, then Event Settings.
3 The Visibility tab opens by default. Click the tab to the right, Security.
4 Scroll down to the Registration Prerequisites section. If
"Limit registration based on attendance to other events" is set to Yes, then the invitee must first be marked as a participant in one of the listed events in order to register for this event.
