What's a data tag to do when there's no data? Well, that's for you to decide with defaults. Data tag defaults appear in emails and webpages when the related field is empty in that contact's record.They also allow you to change the color scheme of any table data tag. Follow the steps below to change the default text and table color scheme that appears.

1 Access the list of data tag defaults. Begin by clicking the User-added image icon in the top-right, then select Admin from the dropdown. From the left-hand navigation, click General, then Default Data Tag Text.
 
NOTE: Don't see this section? Ask your administrator to give you full access to "Data Tag Defaults" by clicking the User-added image icon in the top-right, then going to Admin > Manage Users > User Roles.

2 Edit the default text. This is the text that will appear in emails and webpages if a contact does not have data in that specific field. Click Edit, then find the field you want to customize. Type in the new default text, then click Save.

In the example below, attendees will see "Guest" if they leave the First Name field blank during registration.

NOTE: If the Default Text field is blank, then a blank space will appear in place of the data tag within the email content.

Click Save.

Or, edit table data tag defaults. Not a fan of gray scale? You can change the colors of any tables that appear in place of a data tag, like {[C-CURRENT REGISTRATION]}.

From the left-hand navigation, click General, then Table Data Tag Format. Click Edit. Here you can change the border thickness, style, font size, font family, and enter hex values to match your organization's branding. When you're finished, click Save.
