Dynamic links display content specific to each individual attendee from a navigation icon in your app. These customized URLs can be used to show attendees only the event and session surveys from registration that are applicable to them. Or, they can allow attendees to access personalized content from third-party platforms directly through the app. This article will walk you through how to create dynamic links for feedback surveys in Classic or Flex events, Inquisium surveys, attendee schedulers in Appointment events, or almost any third-party platform.

For Feedback Surveys in Classic Events

1 Setup the feedback survey. Begin by setting up your Event Feedback (New) Survey in registration.

2 Identify your event stub. Select your event. The Event Stub is located at the end of the URL in the address bar.

Event Stub

Copy and paste this information somewhere safe for now. You'll need it again later.

3 Disable surveys in CrowdCompass. Contact CrowdCompass Support to disable surveys in your mobile app. This is to ensure that only the surveys from registration are accessible through the app.

4 Access the Navigation Icons section. After you have logged in to the EventCenter, click your event's name. In the Event Checklist, click View More under Design, then Navigation Icons.

5 Create the navigation icon. Click Add a Navigation Icon, then select Add a Web URL. Give the icon a name, then click Show URL Options directly beneath the "URL" field. Select Dynamic URL.

6 Verify your datacenter, if necessary. Not sure which datacenter your accounts use? Check the URL. Your CrowdCompass account is in the US datacenter if you log into https://eventcenter.crowdcompass.com/ and in the European (EUR) datacenter if you log into https://eventcenter.eur.crowdcompass.com. Your Cvent account is in the US datacenter if you log into https://app.cvent.com/ and in the EUR datacenter if you log into https://app-eur.cvent.com.

NOTE: Your dynamic link will not work unless both of your accounts are in the same datacenter.

7 Update the base URL. If your CrowdCompass and registration events are hosted in the US datacenter, copy the following base link and paste it into the "URL" field:

https://solutions.crowdcompass.com/survey_hub/v1#/source/CORE/event/eventID/attendee/attendeeID

If your CrowdCompass and registration events are hosted in the EUR datacenter, copy the following base link and paste it into the "URL" field:

https://onsite-eur.cvent.com/survey_hub/v1#/source/CORE/event/eventID/attendee/attendeeID

In the URL, replace "eventID" with the Event Stub from Step 2. To ensure each attendee sees only the surveys applicable to them, highlight "attendeeID" in the URL. In its place, add the Unique ID data tag by clicking Insert data tag and selecting Unique ID from the dropdown.

For Feedback Surveys in Flex Events

1 Setup the feedback survey. Begin by setting up your Feedback Survey in registration.

2 Identify your survey ID. Within the survey designer, look at the URL in the address bar. The Survey ID is the group of numbers and letters that appears after "surveyid=" in the URL.

Copy and paste this information somewhere safe for now. You'll need it again later.

3 Identify your event stub. Select your event. The Event Stub is located at the end of the URL in the address bar.

Again, put this information aside for now. You'll use it later.

If your CrowdCompass and registration events are hosted in the US datacenter, copy the following base link and paste it into the "URL" field:

https://web.cvent.com/survey/surveyID/questions?i=attendeeID&ae=invitee&e=
eventID

If your CrowdCompass and registration events are hosted in the EUR datacenter, copy the following base link and paste it into the "URL" field:

https://web-eur.cvent.com/survey/surveyID/questions?i=attendeeID&ae=invitee&e=eventID

In the URL, replace "surveyID" with the Survey ID from Step 2. Then replace "eventID" in the URL with the Event Stub from Step 3. To ensure each attendee sees only the surveys applicable to them, highlight "attendeeID" in the URL. In its place, add the Unique ID data tag by clicking Insert data tag and selecting Unique ID from the dropdown.

For Inquisium Surveys

1 Create your survey. Begin by creating your survey in Inquisium.

2 Identify your survey page URL. Begin by clicking Design Survey in the top navigation bar. Under Section Links on the left, click Weblinks
The Page URLs tab opens by default. Decide if you would like attendees to open your survey to the Welcome Page or the First Page of the Survey.

Inquisium Page URLs

Copy and paste the relevant link somewhere safe for now. You'll need it again later.

3 Access the Navigation Icons section. After you have logged in to the EventCenter, click your event's name. In the Event Checklist, click View More under Design, then Navigation Icons.

4 Create the navigation icon. Click Add a Navigation Icon, then select Add a Web URL. Give the icon a name, then click Show URL Options directly beneath the "URL" field. Select Dynamic URL.

5 Update the base URL. Copy the following base link and paste it into the "URL" field:

surveypageURL?pu=1&first_name=firstname&last_name=
lastname&email_address=email

In the URL, replace "surveypageURL" with the Survey Page URL from Step 2. To ensure each attendee's information is pre-filled when they access your survey, highlight "firstname" in the URL. In its place, add the First Name data tag by clicking Insert data tag and selecting First Name from the dropdown. Repeat this same action for "lastname" and "email" in the URL, replacing the relevant text with the Last Name and Email data tags, respectively.

For Attendee Schedulers in Appointment Events
NOTE: To create this dynamic link, you must have Event Registration and Appointments and integrate both with CrowdCompass.

1 Integrate Event Registration and Appointments with CrowdCompass. When creating your Appointment event, link it to your existing registration event during the first step of the Appointment event creation wizard. Once your events are linked, integrate your Cvent event with CrowdCompass first. Do not sync Attendee Custom Fields. Then activate the Cvent Appointments integration separately.

2 Export your attendees from Appointments. Under Solutions at the top of the page, select Appointments. Locate your appointment event from the list and click its name.

Hover over Attendee Management and, under Manage, click Attendees. Then click Export All Attendees.

Export All Attendees

3 Identify your Event URL. The Attendees export will download automatically. Locate the file on your computer and right-click its name, then open with Microsoft Excel.

Look at the first row in the Website column. The Event URL is the text you see here, ending with the last slash and before the final string of letters and numbers. This URL is the same for all attendees.

Appointment Event URL

Copy and paste this information somewhere safe for now. You'll need it again later.

4 Identify your Appointment IDs. The Appointment ID is the string of letters and numbers that appears after the Event URL. This ID is unique for each attendee.

Appointment ID

Select the Website column and use the Find and Replace function in Excel to find the Event URL from Step 3 in each row and replace it with no text. This will leave only the Appointment IDs in the Website column. Again, put this information aside for now. You'll use it later.

5 Create a planner-only custom field in CrowdCompass. Log in to the EventCenter and select your event. From the Event Checklist, scroll down to the Attendees section and click Invited Attendees. Click Custom Fields, then scroll down to the Planner-Only Fields section and click Add Field. Enter "Appointment ID" in the textbox.

6 Import attendee Appointment IDs. Next you'll need to add each attendee's Appointment ID to their attendee record. Click Invited Attendees in the side nav. Then follow these instructions to export your Invited Attendees list, copy and paste each attendee's Appointment ID from Step 4 into the relevant column, then re-import the file.

7 Create the navigation icon. Click Design in the side nav, then Navigation Icons. Click Add Navigation Icon, then select Add a Web URL. Give the icon a name, then click Show URL Options directly beneath the "URL" field. Select Dynamic URL.

Copy the Event ID from Step 3 and paste it into the "URL" field.

Place your cursor at the end of the URL. Then click Insert data tag and select Appointment ID from the dropdown.

Add Appointment ID Data Tag

When you're finished, click Create.

For Third-Party Platforms

NOTE: Not sure if your third-party platform will work with a dynamic link? Review the requirements to determine if it's a good fit.

1 Request the base link. Begin by reaching out to your third party to request a base link for the platform you want to link to in your app. This is the customizable URL that will allow each attendee to access their unique content on that platform.

For example, if you're using an audience engagement platform like Glisser that requires each attendee to submit responses through their own unique webpage, the customized link will direct attendees there.

2 Access the Navigation Icons section. After you have logged in to the EventCenter, click your event's name. In the Event Checklist, click View More under Design, then Navigation Icons.

3 Create the navigation icon. Click Add a Navigation Icon, then choose Add a Web URL. Give the icon a name, then click Show URL Options directly beneath the "URL" field. Select Dynamic URL.
Third Party Dynamic Link

NOTE: Dynamic links can also be added as a menu item within an existing Top-Level Menu navigation icon.

4 Update the base link. Copy and paste the base link from Step 1 into the "URL" field.

Delete the part of the URL that must be customized for each attendee. In its place, click Insert data tag and select the relevant data tag from the dropdown.

NOTE: CrowdCompass supports default data tags for Attendee Unique ID, First Name, Last Name, and Email only. If your third-party uses other information to identify attendees, you can add custom fields in the Planner-Only Fields section to create data tags for the relevant information.

Check for any parts of the base link that must be replaced with an account ID, event ID, or other identifier from the third party. Make the relevant updates, if applicable. This information must be provided by the third party.

For example, here's a sample base link:

https://web.wordcloud.com/cloud_hub/attendee/attendee-email

To update this URL, delete "attendee-email" and insert the "Email" data tag in its place.

When you're finished, click Create.
