Don't want to cancel your event entirely, but unsure of when you'll reschedule it? Follow these steps to postpone your event and inform registrants.

1 Determine the impact this will have on invitees who've already registered. Before you decide to postpone your event, do the following:

2 Create a regret survey. To capture additional information from those who decide to cancel, create a regret survey to be sent to the registrant upon cancellation.

3 Close your event. Once you've decided to postpone the event, you'll need to close it so that no one else can register.

If desired, change the "Registration for this event is not available" system text in Classic events or "This Event is Closed" system text in Flex events that appears when invitees attempt to register for your closed event.

4 Inform your invitees and registrants. Create a custom email to efficiently address attendees. Don't forget about guests, registrants who are pending approval, and waitlisted invitees.
 
NOTE: In Express events, you cannot create custom emails. Instead, repurpose an existing email you're not using to communicate these changes to your invitees and registrants.

Ensure that you provide clear instructions for how to register for the event once it's been rescheduled, as well as instructions for cancelling or re-booking hotels and flights.

Turn off all emails that are set to send on a scheduled or automated basis, unless you're allowing modifications or cancellations. In that case, keep the Modification and Registration Confirmation emails active.

5 Revise your site. Add verbiage to your event's Summary page in Classic events or create a custom website page and temporarily set it as your event's Summary page in Flex events.

To do so in Flex events, hover over Website & Registration and, under Website, click Event Website. Then click Open Site Designer. Open the Website Page dropdown in the top-left, then click the User-added image next to the custom page you want to set as your homepage. In the Page Settings, toggle "Set as homepage" to green, then click Apply. Once you're done, click Save to preserve your changes and continue working or Publish to make these changes available to invitees.

Consider adding an additional website page with attendee FAQs.

After you've communicated the postponement to your invitees and registrants, remove the event's date and time from your event website. In Flex events, go to Website & Registration > Website > Event Website > Open Site Designer and, on the canvas, delete all widgets that mention the event's date or time. Once you're done, click Save to preserve your changes and continue working or Publish to make these changes available to invitees.

In Classic events, go to Website & Registration > Website > Event Website > Summary and, in the Details section, switch the Display toggle for "When" to gray. Then click Save.
