To track session participation without the need for onsite staff, you can allow attendees to check themselves into a session directly from your Event App. You can also restrict access to session features, like Live Q&A, to only attendees who have checked in.
NOTE: Event App check-in does not include access control, check-out mode, payment compatibility, or advanced logic. If you need any of these features for your event, use OnArrival.

1 Understand how session check-in works in the Event App. Once you enable the feature, attendees accessing the session’s page in the Event App will see a banner prompting them to check in. This banner only appears during the check-in time frame you’ve set. It will never appear for attendees who have already checked in, or who have already been marked as a participant for the session.
NOTE: From the Attendee Website, attendees will be marked as session and event participants if they click the "Join session" button on a virtual session's page.

To check in, attendees can tap Check In and enter the session code, or scan the QR code included on the Live Display for the session or posted onsite at your event.

Session Check In

Once an attendee has successfully checked in to the session, their participation status will be updated in their invitee record in Cvent.
NOTE: If an attendee was not previously registered for a session, they'll be registered upon checking in. Any registration rules you've set up in your event will be overridden. Any fees will be added to their balance due.

2 Access the Event App Session Check-in section. Begin by selecting your event. From the left-hand navigation, click Agenda, then Session List.
 
NOTE: This content was created for the New Experience. If you haven't already, click Switch Now at the top of your account to follow these steps.

Click the name of the session you want to enable Event App check-in for.

The Details tab opens by default. Click the Attendee Hub tab to the right. Click Edit, then scroll down to the Event App Session Check-in section.

3 Enable self check-in. Switch "Self check-in" to Enabled.

Under "Check-in time frame", decide if attendees will be able to check in during the session time, or during a custom time frame. If you select Custom, you can set check-in to open up to 1 hour before the session starts and close up to 1 hour before the session ends.

If you only want attendees who have checked in to a session to have access to features like Live Q&A and session documents, switch "Require check-in for interactive features" to Enabled.

4 Adjust the session access code, if desired. Scroll up to the Live Display section. A session access code will be generated by default. This is the code attendees must enter if they're checking in to the session manually. Moderators will also use this code to access the live display page for session Q&A and Polling, if applicable.

You can either leave the access code as is, or enter your own custom code that fits the requirements.

When you're done, click Save.
