Follow the steps below to create custom Business Intelligence insights that will help you quickly determine where you need to focus your efforts to improve the overall performance of your venue or portfolio.

1 Access the Insights page. Go to bi.app.cvent.com and log in with your Cvent credentials. Click Manage Insights.

2 Decide what you want to track. Start by clicking Create Insight in the top right.

Decide whether you want to:

 
  • Compare your hotel to an internal goal - this allows you to select a metric and set a specific threshold that needs to be met in a given time period for the insight to display.
  • Compare your hotel to the competition - this will trigger the insight to display whenever your venue's performance on a specific metric is significantly higher or lower than the competitive set average.
  • Track the competition's performance - this allows you to select a metric and set a specific threshold that your competition needs to surpass in a given time period for the insight to display.
Select the metric you are interested in. If you have access to several venues, you can select the ones that should be included.

Depending on your selection, you will be presented with different metrics you can choose to track.

NOTE: If you only have access to the Hotel Performance Dashboard, fair share metrics will not be available.

3 Set the insight trigger and time period. Select one metric, then specify the threshold that will trigger the insight to display.

Next, select the time period you want to focus on. You can set the time period based on when the RFPs were received or awarded and when the event starts. If you have a One Diamond listing or above and you have entered your need dates in your venue profile, you can create insights for RFPs that fall over your future need dates.

 
NOTE: If you are comparing your hotel to the competition, you will only need to select the time period you want to focus on.

For example, if you set up an insight to compare your venue's performance against an internal goal of 25 RFPs received in the previous 30 days, the insight card will only be displayed when the number of RFPs received by your venue in the last 30 days is lower than 25.

If you selected several venues in the process of setting up a custom insight, the insight will display individually for each venue where the trigger conditions were met.

4 Set email alerts, if necessary. If you want to be notified about insights that have been triggered, click Yes, email me and specify how often you would like to receive an email alert.

Click Save insight when you're done.

5 Manage the existing insights. Back on the Manage Insights page, you can view a list of all the custom insights you have created as well as the insights Cvent offers by default. To edit or delete an existing insight, hover over the manage insight icon to its right and click edit insight or delete insight, respectively. 

 
NOTE: Any changes you make on the Manage Insights page are only reflected in your user account.
